"Dear Anzebet and Martin,
I am delighted to inform you that the application has been approved today, in just 21 days!. I was informed to collect my licence in two-three weeks.
I am very grateful for your assistance with this application."
"Just to say thank you to the team at MJ HooD&Associates.
Thank you for getting my licence and comp from the saps. I struggled from 2003 to get pistol stuff sorted, Martin Hood, Anzebet and each and everyone I can't remember the names all,you did a great job within12 weeks. I'll be in touch for round 2.
Baie baie dankie vir jul professionaliteit en vinnige diens. Ek is n moerse happy chappy"
"Hi, Thank you very much.
I have received the licence just before Christmas.
Thank you again for your excellent service."
"Morning Anzebet.
I want to take this opportunity to thank you and your team for the great work on my 375 firearm application. My licence was approved and I’m very grateful to you guys.
Thank you for your great work."
"Thank you for accepting me to join this group.
It is with great respect that I must complement you for all the excellent work you have done to represent law abiding gun owners."
"A big thank you to the MJ Hood team.
2 licences approved in around 2.5 weeks from reaching CFR.
It also indicates the CFR are doing well but there is no doubt that the well worded motivation made their job easier. "
"I can not thank you enough!
The LM shoots like I hope it would. I got my license immediately on a print-out (did not even wait for the card)
I phoned the other day to thank Martin in person (and to rag him about the arrest) but he’s probably to busy.
Job well done, I’ve recommended him to everyone I know – and I know a lot of gun-lovers…"
"Thank you very much for excellent service!
Without me requesting, Anzebet Allardyce followed up with CFR and found out my apps were stuck at Lyttelton for more than six weeks now.
Let's see if they heed to the call for action"
"Good news!
The application for sports rifle licence was approved on the 23rd of January 2015, just over one month! Now I can’t wait to receive the card.
Thank you for your assistance and keep up the excellent work, please pass my acknowledgements to the rest of your team."
"Believe it or not! I received a call from the local police station late on Tuesday afternoon to the effect that the Competency certificate had arrived sometime during last week. I queried why it had taken some time to notify me and was told that they had been busy!
I collected the card yesterday and no sooner had I done so when the Firearms office visited my home with what he referred to as the final paperwork regarding the nature of the house, alarm ,gunsafe, etc., which would enable the licences to be issued from Bisho within two to three months.
Thank you for the effort and for believing in my cause that the whole system had failed me. It is regrettable that so much time and money was expended on (this) exercise.
Best wishes to you for 2010!
Just a quick update with some good news! I received my competence for the hand machine carbine in Oct 2009 and received my new licences (Glock 21 & LM6) as well as all my renewal applications during November & late December. So I’ve got nothing outstanding with regard to CFR. I’ve recently acquired a Franchi semi auto shotgun for 3 gun purposes and hope get the application ready within the next 6 weeks.
Thank you so much for your advice and assistance with the drafting of my applications– all the effort and time invested certainly paid off.
Dear Anzebet,
Good News!
I would just like to inform you that I have received my Firearm License today! Please also carry my sincere thanks to Martin for all his guidance and help in this regard.
Best Wishes!
I returned last week after 5 weeks guiding to the good news of the successful appeal and the licence being granted. I am glad we went that route because I am already in discussions with the Outpost to run trails.
So a big thank you. But we’re not yet at the end! 18 November licence granted, 24 November licence card printed, 7 December licence still "in the post". Next post delivery is 9 December, so I hope it is at Gallo Manor for collection.
All the best,
That was a brilliant piece of work by Martin & SA Hunters on Sunday's 30th May 2010 Carte Blanche TV show. Well done and thank you!
Best regards,
Dear Mr Hood
I would like to formally thank you for all your help in applying for my self-defence firearm, from a young applicant (21) I knew the odds were against me for a first time approval. But I have received my firearm in good order- a bit overdue, but it’s in my possession none the less.
I would like to point out the events that followed which you may find of interest, you may use this by all means as a reference if ever needed.
My initial motivation for the firearm was that my family and house was clearly a target with 4 armed robberies in the space of 2 years- I remember some of the case numbers were mentioned in my motivation. As a result, of these robberies my mother and brother left to live on our wine farm in the Cape. My father and I still live in our same house in JHB and commute when we can.
After receiving my firearm, I went straight to the range with a friend of mine. Unfortunately, I was on my cell for a minute when the friend encountered a squib, not knowing what to do he loaded another round in the chamber and pulled the trigger. Of course, as a result, I ended up with a barrel bulge the first day I got my gun. It spent the week with a gunsmith who masterfully repaired my barrel to working condition. On that day I test fired my Glock 22 to check the barrel to my satisfaction and purchased self-defence ammo. I’ve now only had my firearm for a total of one day. At home that afternoon I cleaned my Glock and reassembled it with the new ammo I had bought and settled to watch the cricket.
I had been expecting my mother to return from a lunch out, she had come up to JHB for the day to apply for a visa. As I heard the gate opening the sound was followed by her hooter being held down. Nerves now jumping through me, I loaded my firearm and chambered a round and walked outside to our driveway.
In front of me was a man in a balaclava holding a gun with a further 3 holding the gate open and running in with guns as well. My firearm was already raised. I shot the closest intruder twice in the chest, then turned and fired a further 7 rounds at the other 3 men. The man I shot got up and ran out to my amazement (I had later discovered through our CCTV setup that he had a bulletproof vest). A family this gang hit before us that day also confirmed they had vests. Only when I ceased fire did they begin to return fire, I decided to fire one more shot to buy myself a gap to retreat to my house to collect my second mag on the couch where I was initially sitting. This final shot struck the guy in his side just below his left ribs, his vest didn’t help there. When I came back out seconds later they had fled and I instructed my mother to get out the car and get in the house.
So far, now a few weeks down the line one arrest has been made after the car used in our robbery attempt was pulled over. It was still covered in blood inside from the man I shot. Blood from our house has linked the car as well. It’s confirmed that it was the Rolex Gang- Same gang that has repeatedly hit us before.
Once again I need to point out how extremely grateful I am for your help that I received a first time approval, going through you was the best decision made in this process, as you can see a refusal wouldn’t have gone too well for me here. The one point we should stress is that CFR took 2 years, unacceptable we both agree. They need to realise that civilians like myself aren’t applying for a firearm just for the fun of it. The longer they leave people waiting, the longer people wait at risk. Something I know you don’t need to hear again.
As a result of this I’m striving to improve myself as a shooter and attending anything that will help better my skills and help me prepare for the unexpected. I have just started out in IDPA (which I remember you advising) and will be applying for my sports purpose firearm as soon as I achieve DSS.
Thank you again for everything,
Keep safe,
Beste Anzebet
